What is a commercial project?
If a scientific thesis is coordinated with a company (e.g. if the company contributes its own research questions) or if a company receives exclusive results of the study, it is a commercial and therefore chargeable survey project. This also applies if the company does not pay the student for the development, implementation and/or evaluation of the study.
SoSci Survey wants to support scientific research with its offer and not the exploitation of students . Unfortunately, some companies use theses to obtain scientific studies and other services free of charge. If a company benefits from a study, it is only fair if the company at least pays for the expenses. Many companies also show their appreciation with a small payment for the graduate.
If a company only supports a study (e.g. provides addresses of employees or customers for the survey), but is neither allowed to have a say in the design of the study nor receives exclusive results, this does not classify the study as commercial.
